This man has to climb to the peak of the mountain to supply the one vending machine that lies there. Even after paying $2.50 for a stupid bottle of water, I felt so compelled to leave a tip. 

My two host brothers in Yamagata love thomas! I didn't think the little blue train was still around, let alone in Japanese.

The school I went to in Yamagata for one week was an engineering school and I the chance to make the school symbol from scratch.

So I am in Yamagata which my dad would call bumf***. This place is in the middle of nowhere of nothing.  I went to one of the hot springs and in a changing room with only fat old men I found a space rocket....? No, but a one dollar standing tanning salon. i definitely got some sneers at being the naked gaijin taking pictures in the changing room, but this was too weird
